SHARED SERVICES BIDDING DISASTER
The first bids processed through Shared Services was posted on October 2, 2007 thru October 12th It was a disaster.
The lettering was too small. No name given under vacated for the previous holder of a bid. Job ID number is illegible with a line underneath it. No pay location listed. Since this has become a national problem, President Jackie Engelhart and Vice- President Dave Baskin has been in contact with the National Officers of the APWU. Lets hope this will be corrected before the next posting.
These new changes affect all crafts and all regions.
THE BID CYCLE
Speaking of the next bid posting. The next bids for the remainder of the year will be posted on the following dates.
Oct 30 thru Nov 9
Nov 27 thru Dec 7
Dec 24 thru Jan 3
The October 30th bids will consist of newly created assignments for tours 1 and 3 in the automation area.
WHEN IS MY HOLIDAY VETERANS’ DAY 2007?
There are four holidays recognized by the Postal Service that is celebrated on the same date each year. They are
New Years Day - January 1
Independence Day - July 4
Christmas Day - December 25
Veterans’ Day- November 11
There is still some confusion about the upcoming Veterans’ Day Holiday.
Listed is the designated holiday along with certain non-scheduled days

I hope this clears up the November 11th holiday. This will not be a problem again until July 4th 2009.
FEHB OPEN SEASON
The open season for the Federal Employee Health Benefits will run from November 12th to December 10th 2007. There will be a health fair at Carol Stream on a date to be given later.

PENALTY PAY EXCLUSION
As per Article 8 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the four weeks of penalty pay exclusion will be from December 1, 2007 and end on December 28,2007
REMINDER I
Employees wishing to volunteer in other areas than their assigned area during a holiday, can circle all the jobs on the volunteer slip that they have the necessary skills to work.

REMINDER II
Daylights savings time ends on November 4, 2007. Clocks will be set back one hour.
REMINDER III
